Updates: July 7, 1998; July 22, 2006 Additional information from ME, a user: Showspc will work with Windows 95. Create a shortcut that uses the entire screen and exits when this DOS program ends. Simply DRAG and DROP any file that is an Atari ST Spectrum 512 .SPC or .SPU file onto SHOWSPC.exe. Or create a file association. SPC = Compressed; SPU = Uncompressed. The program does not read the extender of the file, it reads the file's actual header. If you drop a non-Spectrum 512 file on it, it WILL try to read it. To save the image you will need to use the screen capture functions on your system. With Win 95, set your shortcut to output printscreen info to the buffer. After you have saved the image to the buffer, press the space bar to exit the program. SHOWSPC does not manage memory very well, that is why running it in a full window DOS shell is best. If it is run in a smaller window it may slow the system after several "runs." Paste the image into any graphics program that supports 512 colors or more. The image will be TWICE the size that it should be: 640x400. Reducing the image to 320x200 will NOT reduce image quality, as this is it's true resolution, but only if you use a program that has a simple reduction option, like WWW.IRFANVIEW.COM . The SHOWSPC.ZIP archive should contain the following files: 1. SHOWSPC.EXE - The actual dos-based program 2. SHOWSPC.TXT - A short description from the creators at Dream Park Development of SLC, UT (1992) 3. SPECINFO.TXT - A help file I created 4. BEE512.SPC - An original Spectrum 512 file I added (compressed) 5. BEE-512.ico - An icon I made with a 256 color palette 6. Bee-16.ico - An icon I made with a 16 color palette 7. spectrum.htm - My most recent update to the support web page.
